We use detection scripts to determine browser and platform types. In order to maintain a consistent display and functionality for all, we direct specific scripts and stylesheets to each user agent.

This approach allows us to keep overall site files to a minimum while guaranteeing compatibility with all required platforms and browsers.

Indeed this is the intention of W3C's new standards, and it is working on this site as certain necessary elements will not function correctly without individual attention. Rather than eliminate these elements and lose their usefulness as content delivery systems, we can adapt them to browser nuance without unnecessary file duplication.

This site, for instance, has been targeted towards Mac and PC Internet Explorer 4 to 6 and up, Netscape Navigator 4 to 7 and up and Opera 5 and up.
